FITNESS COORDINATOR

This position is located within the Athletic Branch, Recreation Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department, Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, TX. The purpose of this position is to manage the fitness/wellness programs for the Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, and all tenant commands. The incumbent provides guidance in the area of physical fitness and training and provides various wellness programs to all authorized patrons. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Must have extensive experience in the field of physical education and knowledge of the principles as well as teachings in exercise physiology. A bachelor's degree in exercise science or a related field is preferred. A NCCA Accredited certification in health and fitness or related field is required. Knowledge of the safe use and operation of fitness equipment, facility operations, and basic fitness equipment maintenance/repair. Skill in planning and carrying out an enhanced program in the recreation specialty area which meets the needs of the participating community. Skill and ability to provide fitness training and programming to individuals and groups of various sizes. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook). Ability to competently and independently carry out fitness programs through the proper application of principles, concepts and techniques of fitness to satisfy specific needs of the community to be served. Ability to effectively lead and supervise a diverse team of individuals to provide exceptional customer service and accomplish the NAS Key West Fitness Program mission objectives. Ability to conduct accurate fitness testing and provide recommended fitness program, based on fitness goals. Ability to prepare clear, concise, and technically sound reports related to work within the Branch. Ability to develop and effectively deliver presentations and/or training. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.
