Job Description: Primary Duties
- Fit, join, and weld structural steel components including beams, frames, plates, and fabricated assemblies.
- Perform welding operations using processes such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Core as required.
- Weld in flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions as required by structural designs.
- Interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and assembly instructions.
- Prepare materials for welding through grinding, beveling, fitting, and cleaning.
- Monitor welding operations to avoid distortion, overheating, or weakening of structural components.
- Verify alignment, dimensions, and weld quality using measuring instruments and templates.
- Ensure all assigned work is understood prior to beginning welding tasks.
- Complete structural welding tasks in accordance with production schedules and quality standards.
- Maintain proper housekeeping in assigned work areas and project locations.
- Support fabrication teams with material preparation and structural fitting when required.
- Inspect welds visually and report any defects or inconsistencies.
- Immediately report nonconforming materials, equipment issues, or safety concerns to supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills Required- High school diploma or equivalent trade education; welding certification or training preferred.
- Minimum 2+ years of structural welding experience in fabrication or manufacturing environments preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes, welding equipment, and fabrication practices.
- Ability to safely operate welding equipment, grinders, and fabrication tools.
- Basic math skills including measuring, layout, and dimensional verification.
- Good verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members.
- Ability to follow instructions while also working independently when required.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and company Health & Safety procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Including but not limited to:- Ability to weld in multiple positions including standing, kneeling, crouching, or overhead positions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs using proper body mechanics.
- Ability to push or pull materials and welding equipment safely.
- Ability to work for extended periods in fabrication shop conditions.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Shop environment with regular exposure to heat, welding sparks, fumes, loud noise, and moving materials.
- Work may involve heavy steel components, fabrication equipment, and cranes or lifting devices.
