About the Position

We are seeking two Board‑Certified OB/GYN Physicians for a locum tenens assignment providing in‑house inpatient Labor & Delivery coverage . This position is not clinic‑based and not on‑call —physicians provide scheduled, in‑house coverage only .

Night shift availability is required. All candidates must be willing and able to work nights.

Schedule Details:

• Two weekday shifts and two weekend shifts per week
• Coverage includes both day and night L&D shifts
• Typical shift structure:
  • Weekdays:
    • Days: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    • Nights: 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM
  • Fridays:
    • Nights end at 7:00 AM
  • Weekends:
    • Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
    • Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00/8:00 AM

This is a high‑volume Labor & Delivery service with approximately 1,200 deliveries annually and an average daily census of 20 patients .

Clinical Responsibilities Include:

• Labor & Delivery coverage
• Postpartum care
• Emergent GYN OR cases
• Emergency Department consults

Physicians work alongside PAs and Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) who provide 24/7 unit coverage. PAs assist with admissions, H&Ps, orders, ED consults, and first assist in cesarean sections and GYN OR cases. CNMs manage and admit their own patients.

Requirements

Board Certified OB/GYN
MD required
Active Massachusetts Medical License (required)
Flu vaccination required (no waivers or exceptions accepted)
Willingness to work night shifts
Comfortable managing inpatient OB/GYN care independently
Experience with high‑volume Labor & Delivery settings preferred
Epic and OBIX EMR experience preferred
Telehealth experience not required
