Job Description:


- Be an essential part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team committed to delivering high-quality medical nutrition therapy to patients of all ages and varying acuity levels.
- Follow the Nutrition Care Process to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Integrate the Academy Code of Ethics into every aspect of your practice.
- Screen and assess patients according to the Division Screening and Assessment Policy.
- Evaluate the nutritional needs of patients based on age, acuity, development, and specific diseases.
- Develop and implement personalized nutritional plans of care.
- Identify patient nutrition education needs and provide tailored nutrition counseling for patients, families, and caregivers.
- Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of medical nutrition therapy interventions.
- Serve as a preceptor and mentor to dietetic interns while fostering future talent.
- Participate in department and hospital-wide committees, performance improvement projects, and research initiatives.
- Act as a clinical resource for all interdisciplinary team members.

Education/Experience Required:


- Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics.
- Completion of an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program.
- 1-2 years of hospital clinical nutrition experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification Required:


- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist preferred or must pass the Registration Examination for Dietitians within 3 months of hire date.
- Licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation within 6 months of hire date.
- Obtain 75 CEUs within a 5-year period to meet CDR professional portfolio requirements.
- Employment is contingent upon continued registration and licensure as a dietitian.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


- Complete individualized training through orientation and ongoing competency assessments.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to document using critical thinking.
- Demonstrate reasoning, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Utilize HCA software including Meditech and Computrition effectively.
- Proficient in computer skills with knowledge of Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently as well as within a diverse healthcare team.
