Blount Substance Use Treatment MA Therapist Job Purpose / Summary The Blount Substance Use Treatment Master's Level therapist will act as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, providing clinical, therapeutic services to clients within an adult residential substance use treatment facility. The position must be able to initiate and maintain professional and clinical relationships and interact appropriately with a team of health practitioners. Summary of Position Provides recovery support for clients suffering from substance use disorders, or co‑occurring disorders. Facilitates and enhances therapeutic activities with clients in the form of individual, group and/or family therapy. Exercises sound judgment and effective decision making; sets boundaries; demonstrates empathetic listening; shows flexibility, willingness, and adaptability to working with diverse populations. Communicates effectively and possesses good time management and organizational skills. Works independently and interdependently in multiple settings, while adhering to federal confidentiality laws and accepted standards and guidelines. Utilizes a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business. Maintains a dependable vehicle and certified driver status (F endorsement) is a condition of employment. Assist clients with co‑occurring treatment in a non‑threatening, comfortable and supportive setting. Typical Working Conditions / Environment Master's Level Clinicians have an identified consistent office space to provide care for their clients and host sessions. Job Duties / Responsibilities This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive; and employees will also perform other reasonably related job responsibilities as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required. This job description does not constitute a written or implied contract of employment. 1. Clinical Care Complete intakes for clients as needed, or as assigned by a supervisor per funding regulations. Facilitate group process therapy five times a week with all clients assigned to the clinician. Complete individual sessions with assigned clients at least once a week. Offer and facilitate family sessions with all assigned clients at a minimum of two times during their treatment. Meet with the client to develop an appropriate treatment plan with individualized treatment goals and objectives within 48 hours per funding regulations. Facilitate any additional groups, outside of process group, as needed (i.e. co‑occurring groups, psychoeducation groups, seeking safety groups). 2. Administrative / Documentation Requirements Completes all required clinical documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with Center Policy and Procedure and funding source guidelines. Completes intake assessments and all necessary documentation in the medical record, paper and/or TNWITS including the diagnosis. Complete all insurance paperwork for approval at time of admission and at appropriate intervals thereafter. Complete all progress notes within 48 hours and/or within the Center's Policy and Procedure guidelines. Complete treatment plans within 48 hours of admission to the program. Review client IPP every seven days, document client progress on objectives and evaluate stage of change. Complete all utilization tasks and paperwork in a timely manner and in accordance with Center Policy and Procedure and funding source guidelines. Facilitate insurance and TennCare, ADAT and other Pre-Authorizations and re-certifications ensuring maximum utilization of all funding sources aligned with clinical needs of community. Maintain PM book and complete PM Admit and Discharge note for clients for utilization as assigned. Clinician will complete accurate time sheet prior to deadline each pay period. 3. Treatment Team Involvement Attend daily treatment team meetings to discuss any major issues, or pertinent information regarding clients, and/or become aware of any issues occurring with clients that need to be addressed as safety issues, behavioral issues, etc. Discuss cases in depth in treatment teams on Fridays, including progress on goals and current stage of change. Complete weekly narrative progress treatment reviews every Friday for all assigned clients and route to the appropriate individuals within the treatment team setting for signature. 4. Professional Development Will develop a professional development plan with supervisor in yearly evaluations with performance goals. Will attend trainings and staff meetings. Explore continuing education opportunities to expand clinical skills regarding interventions, education, etc. and request approval to attend trainings. Complete all Relias training modules and stay current with all staff trainings. 5. Case Coordination Maintain regular contact with referral sources and collaborate as needed regarding client care. Communicate with staff in mental health and substance use facilities, and with other co-occurring community referrals per client need. Attend appropriate community events to remain up-to-date regarding local resources and services. Maintain and document contact with referral sources in accordance with all state, local and federal guidelines. 6. Other Job Duties Staff will complete additional tasks assigned by supervisor. Work as a team member with all staff on the unit by following through with daily task assignments either on daily schedule or requested by supervisory staff. Compensation Starting salary for this position is approximately $54,063/yr based on relevant experience and education. Schedule The schedule of this position is normally Monday‑Friday, 40 hours per week. Start and end hours can vary based on client and/or programmatic need, as well as days worked. This position is residential, which requires working holidays and the position is expected to participate in an on‑call rotation for clinical need of the program. This on‑call rotation could involve weekend and after‑hours work. Travel This position does not require transportation of clients on a daily basis; however, the program may need this position to help transport for emergencies and/or need of the clients/program. Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment. Staff members may be required to provide transportation in their personal vehicle or company van. If staff members use of their vehicle for this purpose, they will be reimbursed for mileage. An F endorsement is highly recommended for this role. Candidates without an F endorsement may be considered if alternative arrangements are approved by a supervisor. Equipment / Technical Competency This position requires the use of basic computer/electronic skills. Must be knowledgeable and able to utilize Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel). Equipment / Technology This position requires computer skills for timekeeping, scheduling and use of electronic medical records entry, and familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/Outlook). Qualifications - Blount Substance Use Treatment Master's Level Therapist Experience / Knowledge One year experience in the social work and addictions field and/or behavioral health and criminal justice setting required. Knowledge of substance use and mental health recovery, including co‑occurring disorders are essential. Ability to demonstrate compassion, apply screening, assessment, intake and other related substance use treatment counseling skills with all variety of populations served including criminal justice involved and potential court‑ordered and/or high‑profile individuals. Extensive experience working with co‑occurring disorders individual, group and/or family therapy is preferred. Familiarity with motivational interviewing and stages of change, including stage‑wise interventions are essential. Education / License Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Marriage and Family therapy, Community Agency Counseling, Addictions, Psychology, Social Work, or other closely related field of study with coursework or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and intellectual disability. License preferred but not required. Physical/Emotional/Social - Skills/Abilities Normal residential treatment setting. Close eye work for writing and computer work. Staff may be including but not limited to: lift up to 50 Ibs. pushing, and pulling up to 150 Ibs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, participating in client activities. This position requires certification in and adequate implementation of verbal and physical de‑escalation techniques that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running and walking. Must also have the ability to communicate effectively and possess good time management and organizational skills.
