Power System Design Senior EngineerSterling Heights, MI $72-$84/hourlyAbout the Position:The Power System Design Senior Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, integration, and validation of advanced vehicle power subsystems for current and next-generation military platforms. This role focuses on hybrid-electric architectures, power distribution, energy storage integration, system modeling, and subsystem-level performance optimization. The engineer will guide architecture decisions, perform advanced analysis, and support vehicle-level integration and testing efforts across multidisciplinary teams.Responsibilities to Anticipate for this Role:Lead power system design and development efforts for advanced vehicle capabilities, including hybrid-electric architecturesDevelop and evaluate power subsystem architectures and perform trade studies for emerging technologiesWork with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to integrate power system components into vehicle platformsDevelop CAE models for complex hybrid-electric systems including: High-voltage batteriesIntegrated Starter Generators (ISG)Electric motorsDC/DC convertersPower distribution systemsBuild and integrate subsystem models to evaluate performance under real-world operating conditions (drive cycles, load profiles, environmental conditions)Perform system sizing and analysis based on customer and platform requirementsTranslate system requirements into validation plans, test procedures, and operational use casesDevelop and maintain engineering documentation including SRS, SSDD, CAN ICDs, and related artifactsSupport lab and vehicle-level integration, troubleshooting, and validation activitiesParticipate in technical reviews, design audits, and customer demonstrationsProvide technical leadership, mentorship, and contribute to long-term power system roadmapsResearch and evaluate emerging hybrid-electric and electrification technologiesSupport cross-functional collaboration across engineering, test, and manufacturing teamsEnsure designs meet performance, cost, schedule, and integration requirementsQualifications Sought:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Systems, or related field10+ years of experience in electrical power system design, integration, and developmentStrong background in hybrid-electric vehicle architectures and system integrationExperience with power generation, distribution, management, and energy storage systemsProficiency with modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and ANSYSExperience supporting lab and vehicle-level integration and troubleshootingStrong communication skills and ability to work across engineering disciplinesAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced development environmentWillingness to support occasional overtime and limited travelWhy Join CPI?This is an opportunity to shape the future of hybrid-electric military vehicle technology by working on advanced power systems that directly impact next-generation platform performance.
