Certified Medical Assistant, Practice Operations The primary responsibility is to assist in the delivery of healthcare support for the practice. Responsibilities Conduct pre‑visit planning by reviewing and updating the patient’s medical record prior to the appointment with recent test results and correspondence and determining needed services by conferring with the provider. Complete pre-charting of all value-based pieces up to five days prior to patient’s appointment. Sends messages to the Care Team, when warranted. Prepare patients for examination and escort them into the exam room—including measuring height, weight, vital signs; updating medication list; updating allergies; updating personal, family and social history; inquiring about smoking status; obtaining reason for visit; and assisting in capturing demographic information. Provide other patient care services as needed or directed: keep exam rooms clean; maintain clinical supplies; clean and autoclave contaminated instruments; administer injections or immunizations within state guidelines. Communicate and coordinate with providers or Care Team regarding hospital discharge, ED visits, consulting physicians, community resources, disease management, patient self-management, chronic condition education, labs or other testing and specialist visits. Actively participate in department activities: attend departmental meetings; team‑level problem resolution; analyze current procedures. Dispose of bio‑hazardous waste and regular waste per practice protocol. Maintain vaccine temperature logs, inventory and ordering of medical supplies (vaccines, medications), dispose of expired sample medication, and stock rooms to maintain par levels. Perform administrative tasks such as check‑in and check‑out functions, opening and closing office procedures, etc., as needed. Bring suggestions for improvement to Practice Managers and Providers for consideration. Actively participate in maintaining and/or improving quality improvement initiatives. Assume other related duties as assigned. Physical and Sensory Requirements Requires sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of up to eight hours at a time. May need to lift up to 25lb, and occasionally push wheelchairs with patients up to 325lb. Education High school degree or equivalent required. Graduates of accredited medical assistant programs are strongly preferred. Current certification as a medical assistant from an accepted accredited organization is required. Training and Experience Two years of experience in a similar healthcare setting is preferred. Customer service experience is strongly preferred. BLS/CPR Current or within 60 days of hire; through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. On‑boarding Applicable 30/60/90‑day onboarding checklist will be completed during the onboarding process for new or transferred employees to confirm mastery of skills relevant to the service line. The checklist will be acknowledged by practice leadership or a provider when appropriate; records will be retained at the practice location. Compensation Minimum‑maximum pay range: $17.55 – $26.33 per hour. The organization will meet minimum wage or the minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on state requirements. Final determinations will consider location and candidate experience, education, and skills.
