Community Outreach & Victim/Family Support SpecialistPosition Summary

Boxwood Learning Center is seeking a compassionate, experienced Community Outreach & Victim/Family Support Specialist to engage youth and families and connect them with services, resources, and community supports.

This position focuses on supporting youth and families impacted by crime, violence, trauma, family crisis, and other significant life challenges. The ideal candidate has experience in victim services, a Family Crisis Intervention Unit, behavioral health, case management, or a similar community-based setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach and engage youth and families in services.

  • Build relationships with schools, law enforcement, Family Crisis Intervention Units, victim service providers, healthcare organizations, and community partners.

  • Complete intakes, needs assessments, referrals, and follow-up.

  • Provide trauma-informed support, advocacy, and resource navigation.

  • Maintain regular contact with assigned youth and families.

  • Coordinate services related to mental health, housing, education, employment, healthcare, transportation, and other needs.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential case documentation.

  • Participate in case conferences, community meetings, outreach events, and workshops.

  • Follow crisis-response and mandated-reporting procedures when appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Family Studies, Public Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience working with victims of crime, families experiencing crisis, and/or a Family Crisis Intervention Unit or comparable program.

  • Case management experience with youth, adults, or families.

  • Bilingual required.

  • Experience working with diverse and underserved communities.

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and strengths-based practices.

  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Preferred Experience

Experience with adolescents and young adults, community violence, domestic violence, juvenile justice, housing instability, restorative practices, crisis intervention, family meetings, workshops, or community-based violence prevention is preferred.

Schedule

Part-time, approximately 25 hours per week . Some after-school, evening, and occasional weekend availability may be required based on program needs.
