Manager, Behavioral Health Technicians

Manager, Behavioral Health Technicians Job Type: Full Time | Varied Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is a diversified healthcare delivery network dedicated to providing exceptional care while prioritizing employee well‑being. Responsibilities Manage the daily operations of the assigned department to maintain alignment with organizational objectives. Ensure regulatory compliance and oversee the acquisition and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Foster a professional, growth‑oriented environment and maintain the department’s critical role in the continuum of care. Plan, review and ensure quality standards of work, manage hiring, training, performance evaluations, corrective actions and terminations, while maintaining regular and reliable attendance. Manage staff relations, including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management. Perform scheduling, staff development, recruitment, payroll, and student engagement. Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, contracts, and vendor relations. Determine and justify needs for systems, equipment and supplies purchases, monitor usage and oversee proper operating conditions. Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth. Serve both internal coworkers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors. Apply policies and procedures with comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance requirements, such as HIPAA. Plan and review work, ensuring quality standards and maintaining reliable attendance to support consistent leadership. Other duties as assigned. Essential Functions Assist in developing departmental goals, standards and objectives supporting the organization’s strategic plan and vision. Manage staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management. Perform and oversee scheduling, staff development, recruitment, payroll and student engagement. Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, contracts and vendor relations. Determine and justify needs for system/equipment/supplies purchases, monitor usage, and oversee proper working order or stock supplies. Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth. Maintain focus on the department’s critical role in the continuum of care. Ensure regular and reliable attendance. Serve both internal coworkers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors and vendors. Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance. Skill in applying policies and procedures. Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, and ensuring quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff. Ongoing learning and career advancement opportunities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Business Administration or related field from an accredited school. Three years of behavioral health experience. One year of leadership/management experience preferred. CPR certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact. De‑escalation certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact. Knowledge of behavioral health, strong leadership and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Physical and Mental Demands Required to stand, walk, sit for extended periods, use hands to handle objects or tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl, talk or hear. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Repetitive motion of upper body is required for extended computer use. Required vision includes close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment and Travel Requirements Work in a well‑lit, ventilated and climate‑controlled office environment with routine office equipment. In hospital/behavioral health settings, exposure to hazards such as bloodborne pathogens, contagious illnesses, toxic chemicals and biohazardous materials may occur. Noise level typical for office or hospital environment.
