IOP Addiction Counselor

Responsibilities Monday - Friday, 5:30 am – 1:30 pm Develop a treatment alliance with patients that is mutual, collaborative, and individualized, meeting changing clinical needs throughout treatment Facilitate addiction treatment groups in the IOP and OP levels of care Prepare and present addiction‑/recovery education presentations to all patients Engage in case‑management sessions, including assessments, collaborative treatment goals, discharge planning, partnership with referral sources and/or other providers Promote the organization’s image in a positive and professional manner Provide direct care up to 55 % of weekly work hours depending on program and position Work with the treatment team to meet the co‑occurring psychiatric needs of patients Coordinate care for all appropriate support services, including referral sources, family members, and other support providers Maintain timely and well‑written documentation that meets state and CARF standards Demonstrate commitment to excellent patient care, measured through clinical outcomes such as retention, attendance, successful completion, transition from IOP to OP, and goal attainment Obtain signatures from licensed therapist/supervisor for documents requiring a second signature when applicable Provide evaluations for substance use disorders using DSM‑V and ASAM level‑of‑care criteria Demonstrate experience with Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and trauma‑informed care approaches Embodies the spirit of a teacher, continually demonstrating positive energy that promotes addiction recovery education and learning in and out of group/individual sessions Attend and be prepared for professional meetings, including the treatment team Other duties as assigned Qualifications Strong clinical, verbal, and writing skills Engaging with patients while promoting accountability Flexible and creative team player Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work in a program that will grow over the next several years Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the SUD field; group‑treatment experience preferred but not required Experience and comfort working with an electronic medical record Knowledgeable and well‑versed in various recovery modalities including SMART Recovery, Women for Sobriety, 12‑Step, Recovery Dharma, Harm Reduction, etc. If in recovery from a substance use disorder, minimum 3 years of continuous sobriety required; five years preferred Licenses and Other Required Credentials ADT, CSC‑AD, or CAC‑AD, CADC in Maryland We Offer Competitive compensation Company‑paid clinical supervision Full benefits: Medical/Dental/Vision Life insurance 401(k) Tuition reimbursement Paid professional development time Student loan repayment program Paid vacation time And more The pay range for this position is $25 to $33 per hour.
