Payroll Specialist

We are partnering with a top employer in the Kansas City area to hire a Payroll Specialist for a contract opportunity in Olathe, KS. This role is less focused on day-to-day payroll processing and more focused on researching, troubleshooting, and resolving payroll-related issues as they arise. The ideal candidate will have previous payroll processing and/or timekeeping experience in a high-volume environment and enjoy problem-solving, investigating discrepancies, and providing support to employees and internal teams. Experience working for a large organization is highly preferred, and Workday experience is a plus.

This is a fully onsite opportunity in Olathe with an initial contract term of at least six months, though there is potential for extension and even permanent conversion. Join a large and fast-growing organization as a Payroll Specialist. In this role, you will support over 1,000 employees with their payroll needs. Your responsibilities will include managing Workday operations and resolving payroll issues efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Manage incoming payroll-related tickets.
• Send paystubs or W2 forms to employees.
• Investigate and resolve issues such as missing holiday pay.
• Prepare payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Handle Payroll 101 responsibilities promptly.

Essential Skills

• Expertise in payroll processing and payroll tax.
• Experience with deductions and payroll accounting.
• Proficiency in Workday ERP and data entry.
• 3+ years experience processing payroll for a high volume of employees.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with timekeeping systems.
• Associate's Degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $29.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
