Job Description The purpose of the role is to assist with the education of allstudents on what they need to plan and succeed in their chosencareer after graduation. This person will create educationmaterials and deliver them in one-on-one appointments, workshops,and events. They will also develop and maintain content for thecareer website that delivers career education materials 24/7. Theywill collaborate with all stakeholders to support integration ofcareer education materials in all areas of campus life, especiallythe classroom. Primary Responsibilities Career Advising Provide advice and guidance in career planning and developmentto undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni inindividual appointments. Career Champions program support Support the Career Champions program by creating resources forfaculty to include in their curriculum. Data coordination Coordinate the collection of engagement data for thedepartment. Collect engagement data for the Career EducationTeam. Develop and deliver workshops Develop and conduct workshops on various career-relatedtopics. Content Creation Develop content for the website, including blog posts, how-toguides, and educational videos. Collaborate with other departments to reach more students withcareer education materials. Event support Develop and support events to promote the services of ouroffice to current and potential students. Other reasonable duties as assigned Functional and Supervisory Relationships Reports to Assistant Director Career Education Supervises the following positions: None to start May supervise student employees as assigned (if no directreports at time of filling position) Job Requirements Superior interpersonal skills: Ability to advise students and manage emotions such as frustration and anxiety. Broad knowledge of career topics, including resumes, coverletters, interviewing, job searching, graduate school applications, networking, and professional etiquette. Knowledge of careerdevelopment models and theories. Ability to continuously work tokeep information current. Broad knowledge of university majors andgraduate programs. Current knowledge of employer hiringpractices. Relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate withdifferent types of people. Presentation skills. Must be able to develop and deliverengaging presentations on a wide variety of career topics. Knowledge of Handshake, UConnect, and other career developmentsoftware tools. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, andWord. Time management and project management. A demonstrated ability and strong desire to work with aculturally diverse clientele population. Demonstrated skills in effective written and oralcommunication, and organization. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in the workenvironment, manage competing demands, and be able to changeapproach or method to best fit the situation. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from a college or University accredited bythe US Department of Education or internationally recognizedaccrediting organization. Experience working with students in a higher education settingor other educational, advocacy, or counseling/mentoringenvironment. Preferred Qualifications 1 to 3 years of experience working in a career center advisingstudents in career topics. Master's degree in counseling, higher education, social welfareor related field. Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel or similarproduct. Experience conducting interactive workshops. Experience with assessment in higher education. Experience with Handshake and EAB Knowledge of college student development and experienceadvising undergraduate students, graduate students, andalumni. Experience using social media to highlight career resources andbuilding online engagement with the student community. Working Environment Typical office environment. Ability to work some evenings and weekends for presentationsand other events. Professional Rank and Salary Range Career Planning andDevelopment Associate, SL2, $54,090.
