Your Specific Responsibilities:

The incumbent's primary responsibilities are the inspection of Limited Use Public Supply (LUPS) wells in accordance with the requirements of the operating permits of these public water systems, which shall include but not be limited to taking water samples and submitting them to a state approved water sample testing facility. Inspections will be documented on state approved forms and recorded within the approved physical and digital filing systems. General guidance is provided by a Natural Sciences Manager I whom assigns work and evaluates performance with departmental policies. A reliable vehicle and valid Florida driver's license are required for this position.

The incumbent will be responsible for inspections of well abandonments by licensed well contractors using state approved methods. The inspection of well groutings for the construction of limited use/public supply wells and variance wells by licensed well contractors using state approved methods.


The incumbent will be responsible for inspecting migrant labor camps in accordance with 64E-14 F.A.C. Responsible for inspections, documents deficiencies for corrective action, and maintains records in database.

The incumbent will help provide inspections for mobile home/ RV park program, group care program, swimming pool program, tattoo program, and biomedical waste program as needed to meet inspection quotas of all programs.

Investigates complaints filed by the public, related to unsanitary conditions in any programs under the authority of Environmental Public Health. Notifies citizens harboring unsanitary conditions of the possible negative health and legal implications of improperly treated human wastes. Initiates legal proceedings in accordance with Chapters 120, 381 and 386, Florida Statutes as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to work in a team to accomplish established goals or assigned duties.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to environmental public health programs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and/or work with IT to resolve technical issues with computer and state issued smartphone.
  • Ability to speak with people with various educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to write clearly and explain various codes in easily understandable terms.
  • Ability to take water samples and use chlorine water test kit.
  • Ability to work outside.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Ability to twist, bend, reach above head.
Qualifications:

MINIMUM-

Highschool Diploma or GED

Willing to work outside in the elements

Valid Florida Driver License

Lift a minimum of 30lbs

PREFERRED-

BS in physical science

Experience with the Environmental Health Database

Experience with water sampling

Experience working in a regulatory setting
