Registered Nurse (RN) – Valley Manor Care Center Valley Manor Care Center is part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare subsidiary of the Volunteers of America parent organization. Hourly Pay: $37.45-$44.95 per hour based on previous work experience; PLUS earn $2.25 per hour with evening/night shift differential. Plan, direct and carry out shift routines in the assigned nursing unit and observe, direct and evaluate the activities of personnel as the person in charge according to the Nurse Practice Act. Assume "Building Charge" responsibilities as directed by the DON or designee. Provide leadership and direction on the assigned unit, including STNAs, TMA's (if applicable), interdisciplinary team, supervisory and management team, customers, residents and families. Listen to shift report and maintain open lines of communication with supervisor, co‑workers and incoming shift. Make rounds to residents to observe their physical and psychosocial status. Assign personnel appropriately to meet resident needs. Ensure that unit personnel on your shift are carrying out their assignments. Attend nurses and team meetings as scheduled and/or assigned. Initiate disciplinary action when the performance of personnel warrants such action. Report occupational exposures (needlesticks, blood, body fluids, infectious materials, hazardous chemicals) in accordance with facility policy and procedures governing accidents and incidents. Bring concerns and improvement suggestions to facility leadership and QAA/QAPI committee. Treat residents with respect and dignity. Immediately report any suspected abuse or neglect per company policy. Perform nursing techniques for the comfort and well‑being of residents. Be drug knowledgeable and report resident responses, side effects and potential problems to physicians. Maintain all required documentation accurately and timely according to policies and procedures of the facility. Follow all shift routines, policies and procedures regarding monitoring of vital signs, weights, medication and treatment administration. Make physician/provider calls to report resident changes in condition. Keep Resident Representatives and families updated on resident conditions. Comply with acute emergency protocols and tasks involved in the event of a 911 call. Follow all Advance Directives: DNR/DNI/CPR/Comfort Care protocols and orders. Contribute to completing and updating resident care plans. Evaluate and report the performance of all personnel working under your supervision and direction. Perform routine charting duties as required and in accordance with established charting and documentation policies and procedures. Accurately transcribe physician’s/provider’s orders as per facility protocol and forward necessary information to other departments. Document and report all incidents and accidents involving residents, visitors, and staff. Chart nurse’s notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided and resident response (follow VOA policy and procedures). Provide ongoing resident assessments as necessary and document these assessments per facility policy, utilizing E-Interact COC & Care Paths for changes in condition. Participate in employee performance evaluations, determine staffing requirements, and make recommendations to the supervisor concerning employee counseling. Attend required in‑services and complete assigned online modules. Serve on, participate in, and attend various committees and meetings of the facility to enhance interdisciplinary processes. Qualifications Current licensure in the state of Colorado as a Registered Nurse. Experience in long‑term care preferred. Good problem solver with ability to make independent judgments using initiative, discretion, and the nursing process. Customer‑service oriented with knowledge of successful customer‑service techniques. Clinical competence to utilize the nursing process to perform physical and cognitive assessments of residents. Ability to use computers and other electronic devices for timekeeping, in‑servicing and documentation. Understanding of current antibiotic stewardship, infection prevention and infection control, and OSHA guidelines. Technical or other training in nursing or higher. CPR/First Aid certification.
