Licensed Practical NurseThe primary purpose of the Licensed Practical/License Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) is to perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service, and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the veteran. The (LPN/LVN) also performs assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, outstanding customer service, and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the veteran.Information Security: The employee protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provisions of the privacy act of 1974 and other applicable laws, federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy. He/she protects the data from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion. He/she follows applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files, release of access codes, etc., as described in the computer use agreement the employee has signed.Customer Service: The incumbent practices good customer service in all work activities. Must be poised and articulate in communicating with people of varied educational levels and varied ethnic backgrounds. Makes caring for the veteran his/her priority while in the work setting and demonstrates customer service principles in all aspects of work. The incumbent is willing to work cooperatively as a member of a team in all assignments.Major Responsibilities and Duties. Functions of Assigned Duties: (must be unit specific to the area assigned)Nursing Practice/Technical CompetenceAdministers medications accurately and promptly under the general supervision of a registered nurse.Demonstrates understanding of the effects and/or reactions caused by medications, treatments, and procedures.
