Job Description

Provides tutorial and general program assistance in the development and supervision of program participants' tutorial/educational needs, including enrichment and character building initiatives, various prevention projects and initiatives, and special events. Receives supervision and guidance from certified teachers and teacher assistants in the delivery of effective instruction. Work is performed under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by one year of more years' experience and/or training working with school age children; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements), or obtain within one year of employment. Must have or be able to obtain CPR and basic first aid training and Florida Department of Children and Families required early childhood education, teacher assistant, and/or childhood development associate certifications within one year of start date. In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.

Several supplemental insurances are offered through AFLAC at discounted rates for City employees. Plans include: Accident; Cancer; Critical Care and Hospital Confinement Protection. Participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) is mandatory for all eligible General employees. The FRS offers eligible employees an option between a Pension Plan and an Investment Plan. General Employees are classified in the Regular Service Class and as of July 1, 2019, the mandatory employee contribution rate is 3% of salary regardless of which plan is chosen.

The City makes available a deferred compensation plan (MissionSquare 457 plan), for which the employee may voluntarily contribute to on a pre-tax basis. No employer contributions are made. The City makes available a Roth IRA savings plan, through which the employee may voluntarily make after-tax contributions through payroll deductions. No employer contributions are made. The City offers an Employee Assistance Program to all City employees and household members who may need free, confidential and professional counseling to help resolve personal or family problems. Employees may receive up to twelve (12) weeks of paid parental leave following the birth of an employee's child or the placement of a child with an employee in connection with adoption or foster care. All City employees may participate in the We Florida Credit Union. In addition to savings and checking accounts, the Credit Union offers different types of loans, investment choices and recreational opportunities.
