Freight Clerk

Our client, a leading organization in the agricultural industry, is seeking a Freight Clerk to join their team. As a Freight Clerk, you will be part of the Logistics Department supporting warehouse and shipping operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a proactive attitude, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title: Freight Clerk
Location: Ames, IA
Pay Range: $25
Shift: 7:00/7:30 - 4:00/4:30 pm (may change to 8:00 - 5:00 pm)
What's the Job?
- Facilitate order fulfillment by processing shipment requests and preparing picklists and pallet signs for the warehouse team.
- Support warehouse team with inventory questions and assist with lot changes to ensure accuracy.
- Manage multi-drop shipments, ensuring all shipments are accounted for and load orders are properly documented.
- Coordinate freight activities by quoting, selecting carriers, booking freight, and preparing shipment documents.
- Monitor stock inventory levels, identify shortages, and request inventory transfers in coordination with warehouse management.
What's Needed?
- Two years of office support experience with an emphasis in logistics preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and familiar with general office equipment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate high ethical standards, discretion, and professional conduct.
