Mechanical Maintenance Tech ILocation: River Rouge, MIPerforms all maintenance functions necessary to maintain all operating and service equipment using standard and specialized tools and equipment including mobile equipment as required. Operates equipment in conjunction with repairs and aids in operating functions as necessary to maintain continuity of operations. May work alone, with minimal supervision or with other Maintenance Technicians and coordinates and works in conjunction with operating team members in the performance of maintenance tasks.This role participates in our structured Pay for Skill Program, offering advancement from Technician I to Technician III with sub-levels A, B, and C. This job has three levels (A, B, C) that an individual may progress through once the minimum experience requirement is met and individual shows a clear understanding of job functions. Each task is assigned points according to complexity. The Mechanical Maintenance Tech I may progress to the next level when 45 points of specified task proficiency is accumulated.Key Accountabilities:Maintains various types of machinery in the coke making processResponsible for participating in safety activities to meet or exceed organizational goals and expectationsMaintains interpersonal relationships with individuals both external and internal to the organizationBe an active participant of developing and maintaining a culture of professionalismResponsible for following all rules, policies, or expectationsResponsible for environmental complianceQualifications:A high school diploma or GEDA valid driver's license1-3 years of heavy industrial experience to provide the following:Must be proficient in precision cutting with burning torch.Must have ability to arc weld (SMAW) in 2F &3F positions.Must have basic pipe threading and fitting skills.Must have basic rigging knowledge and experience.Must have basic print reading abilities.Strong safety experienceAbility to work in a team orientated atmosphereDemonstrated capability to achieve results through people, technology, and processing equipmentGood knowledge of the assigned area(s) of responsibilityAbility to function within a matrix organization where employees report to both a functional leader and a business leaderAbility to develop and maintain productive relationships with both a functional and business leaderMust be goal orientedAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, and managementMust possess and maintain a valid driver's licenseAdditional Qualifications:The physical demands characterized here epitomize those that must be met by an employee to properly perform the integral functions of this job.
