Truck Driver (Baton Rouge, LA)

Essential Functions:

Responsible for the dailytransportation, loading and unloading of Donated Goods, New Goods, Store Supplies,Fixtures, and other items as needed. Provide direction to the Driver Helpers.

1. Drivea 16' to 24' standard transmission box truck or a 48 ft Tractor/Trailercombination in a safe and efficient manner, complying with all state, federaland local driving laws.

2. Followa daily dispatched schedule and give directions to truck helpers and/ortrainees.

3. Collectand transport donated goods from private homes, businesses, or other areas todesignated processing sites.

4. Transportsalvage material, store supplies, containers, and waste, as directed.

5. Inspectand service truck daily for proper operation. Inform the Transportation Managerof any necessary repairs and safety hazards.

6. Monitorand order truck supplies through the Transportation Manager.

7. Unloadtrucks and move merchandise throughout the stores, sales floors, and warehouse.

8. Providepolite, responsive, and courteous service to donors and to issue receipts.

9. CompareBill of Lading to truck load for accuracy of merchandise.


10. Usehands free system to communicate with supervisor or dispatcher regularly.

11. Pick upand distribute interoffice mail and supplies from the warehouse to the properlocation and vice versa, when requested.

12. Maintaina clean and hazard free truck.


13. Follow allcompany policies and safety procedures.

14. Attend allstaff meetings as scheduled.

Skills and Abilities:

1. Mustbe able to interact professionally with, allcustomers, vendors, andstaff members

2. Mustbe able to market Goodwill and explain the mission to the public.

3. Musthave extensive knowledge of the service area and road systems.


4. Mustbe able to read and follow a street map.

5. Mustbe available to work a flexible schedule on short notice, including days, nights,and weekends.


6. Mustbe able to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally.

7. Mustbe able to sit for prolonged periods of time in a moving vehicle.

8. Mustbe able to stand, and walk, for prolonged periods of time, frequent bending, stooping,and stretching.

9. Musthave vision corrected to within normal limits.

10. Must beable to read, write and communicate clearly in English.

11. Must beable to function in a busy work environment with occasional periods of highstress.

Requirements:

Must maintain a ChaufferLicense or Class A Commercial Driver's License. Must have a current DOT MedicalCard. High School diploma or GED preferred, not required. One-year priordriving or transportation experience or training preferred; must possess validstate driver's license and must be insurable through the Company's insurancecarrier. Must pass drug screen and DOT physical, as required. Regularattendance is required.

Working Conditions:

Frequent physical exertion , exposure to inclement weather; exposure to truck fumes and noise, exposureto donated goods.
