Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney
Short Hills, New Jersey
Direct Counsel is seeking a mid-level Associate Attorney to join a nationally recognized Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice at a leading global law firm. The ideal candidate will have 4–6 years of complex litigation experience , with experience in high-level insurance coverage litigation, dispute analysis, and coverage assessments.
ResponsibilitiesHandle all aspects of commercial litigation from inception through trial and appeal.
Conduct legal research and draft memoranda.
Draft complex case analyses, briefs, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
Conduct, propound, and respond to discovery, including document discovery, written discovery, and depositions.
Work closely with clients, witnesses, experts, and other counsel.
Analyze insurance coverage and extra-contractual disputes, including drafting coverage opinions and related analyses.
Develop case strategies and manage litigation matters in collaboration with partners and clients.
4–6 years of complex and sophisticated litigation experience required.
Experience with insurance coverage litigation preferred.
Candidates with complex litigation backgrounds and a genuine interest in high-level insurance coverage work are encouraged to apply.
Strong legal writing, research, case management, and oral advocacy skills.
Direct experience handling clients and adversaries.
Deposition and court experience preferred.
Previous law firm experience strongly preferred.
Exceptional analytical and communication skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Excellent interpersonal and client-service skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Strong networking and business development skills.
Active New Jersey Bar license and good standing required.
The salary range for this position is $275,000–$300,000 , based on experience. The firm also offers a competitive benefits package and discretionary bonuses.
