Senior Accountant - GAAP & Month-End (Remote)

Senior Accountant – REI Location: Remote | Salary Range: $63,300.00 – $101,500.00 per year Overview Join REI’s finance team as a Senior Accountant and contribute to our mission of inspiring and enabling a life outdoors for everyone. This role is integral to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our corporate financial data, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You’ll handle month-end closing activities, account reconciliations, and financial data analysis, playing a crucial part in our financial reporting process. This position demands excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across various levels and departments. Key Responsibilities Month-End Close: Perform month-end closing activities to ensure timely financial reporting. General Ledger Management: Review, balance, and post corporate financial data from multiple systems into the general ledger. Accruals & Amortization: Accrue, defer, and amortize corporate costs following GAAP. Account Reconciliation: Reconcile balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies. Data Management: Perform data entry, maintain balance sheet schedules, and ensure accurate account clearing. Financial Research: Research and post correcting entries, prepare documentation on new accounting topics, and support tax filings, audits, and reconciliations. Reporting & Analysis: Generate custom and ad hoc reports, analyze financial information, and provide insights to management. Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve inconsistencies, develop and implement solutions, and actively seek guidance on prioritization from senior accountants and managers. Process Improvement: Recommend and help develop workflow improvements and ensure adequate internal controls within accounting and reporting processes. Audit Support: Assist with the annual external audit process, creating timelines and communicating important audit matters. Collaboration: Work cross-divisionally to research financial information and maintain effective communication with team members and other departments. Preferred Qualifications In the process of obtaining CPA license Experience with multiple financial systems, ERP systems, and SAP Strong analytical skills in an ERP environment Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting 1+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience Intermediate to advanced Excel skills Firm understanding of GAAP for general ledger accounting Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Collaborative work style with excellent communication skills Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Ability to work independently and effectively use resources to meet deadlines REI Culture & Benefits At REI, we believe that the outdoors is for all, and we’re committed to being a fully inclusive, anti-racist, multicultural organization.
