Department Operations Location Mount Laurel, NJ About the Role Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting‑edge cloud‑based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission‑critical systems in the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Systems Administrator to be part of our Security team and based out of our Mount Laurel, NJ location. Clearance & Location Requirements All applicants must currently possess an ACTIVE Secret U.S. Security Clearance. This is an on‑site position requiring at least 5 days in office in Mount Laurel, NJ. What You Will Do Windows System Administration: Install, configure, secure, and maintain Windows operating systems (Windows 11) in both virtual and physical environments. Server Administration: Install, configure, secure, and maintain server operating systems (Server 2022 and 2025) in both virtual and physical environments. Linux System Administration: Install, configure, secure, and maintain Linux operating systems (Red Hat) in both virtual and physical environments. System & Software Maintenance: Perform monthly maintenance by applying operating system and software patches to remediate open vulnerabilities on the information system. Security & Compliance: Ensure high levels of system and infrastructure availability, security, and performance; implement and maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies. Demonstrate ability to manage system compliance through STIG implementation, SCAP scanning, and ACAS/Nessus vulnerability management. Troubleshooting: Provide Tier 2/3 support to diagnose and resolve complex system and virtual/physical system performance issues, configuration problems, and outages. Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts (Bash, Python, PowerCLI, Ansible Playbook) to streamline routine administrative tasks, deployments, and reporting. VMware Infrastructure Management: Install, configure, and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter Server. Who You Are Required Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, or equivalent full‑time professional experience. 3+ years of professional Windows systems administration experience, preferably in a security position. Security+ CE certification, or equivalent level I or II IAT/IAM certification (DoD Directives 8140/8570). Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, as needed. Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper‑V). Experience configuring systems and performing Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) tasks, including daily, monthly, and quarterly maintenance on all systems. Proficiency with backup and disaster recovery solutions. Ability to understand and interact with complex DoD compliance tools. What Makes You Stand Out Linux system administration experience. Experience with or knowledge of managing and maintaining system compliance through STIG implementation, SCAP scanning, and ACAS/Nessus vulnerability management (Windows/Linux/ESXi). Understanding of networking technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and firewalls. Experience with PowerShell or Bash scripting for automation. Familiarity with software deployment tools (e.g., PDQ Deploy). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
