Job Title:  CNC Setup Technician – 2nd Shift

Employment Type : Full-Time
Location: Gastonia, NC
Pay: Starting at $25.00+ per hour (Based on Experience)

Schedule:  Monday – Thursday | 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM
Overtime: Must be available to work Fridays as production needs dictate.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Setup Technician to join our manufacturing team in Gastonia, NC. This position is responsible for setting up CNC machines, installing tooling and fixtures, performing first-piece inspections, and ensuring production runs efficiently while maintaining the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong machining knowledge, excellent blueprint reading skills, and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and prepare CNC machines for production runs

• Install tooling, fixtures, offsets, and machine programs according to work instructions

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications

• Perform first-piece inspections and make machine adjustments as necessary

• Monitor machine performance to ensure quality, efficiency, and productivity

• Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions

• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments

• Maintain accurate setup documentation and production records

• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe

• Follow all company safety policies and quality procedures

• Assist with additional machining and production duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of CNC setup experience

• Strong knowledge of G-code and CNC machine operations

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

• Proficient with precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measures

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

• Must be available to work overtime on Fridays as production requires

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience setting up CNC mills and/or CNC lathes

• Knowledge of tooling selection, offsets, and machine optimization

• Experience performing first-piece inspections and quality verification

• Manufacturing or machining certification is a plus
