Clinic Operations Mid-Level Provider / Nurse Practitioner - Denver

Requirements This position is open only to Colorado state residents. Purpose of this Position Deliver health care to detained, pre‑trial, and committed youth. Primary care is provided by licensed independent practitioners/Mid Level Providers with responsibility for a continuum of health care from initial assessment through development and maintenance of health care including physical, psychiatric, and dental maintenance. Primary Job Duties Provide clinical and operational leadership across multiple facilities within the Division, ensuring consistent clinical practice standards and supporting the implementation of medical and care protocols. Supervise the completion of health screenings, appraisals, and physical examinations, ensuring communicable diseases are identified promptly, interventions are implemented, and required reporting is completed. Manage complex cases and consults, guiding staff on high‑acuity medical, dental, and specialty cases and determining the need for specialist referrals. Serve as a liaison between Medical Leads, the Medical Operations Coordinator, and the Director of Medical Operations, communicating relevant health information to staff, families, and administration. Oversight and Supervision of Staff Investigate and resolve staff, youth, and family complaints, maintaining documentation quality and medication administration compliance. Support scheduling of clinic staff, orient and train new staff and students, and facilitate regular staff meetings. Data and Reporting Collect and report monthly statistics and critical incidents, review policies, and collaborate on procedural revisions. Medical Quality Assurance and Compliance Direct and monitor quality assurance and clinical compliance initiatives, audit clinical documentation, and respond to annual audits. Collaborate with the Medical Operations Coordinator and Medical Authority to plan and implement operational and clinical improvements. Clinical Duties Perform physical examinations, order laboratory and diagnostic tests, interpret results, and formulate treatment plans. Identify and prevent the spread of communicable diseases and provide health education to juveniles and staff. Diagnose medical emergencies, prescribe medication, monitor treatment, and document all activities in medical records. Minimum Qualifications Current, valid licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing OR as a Physician Assistant from the Colorado Medical Board, with prescriptive authority (RXN status). Preferred Qualifications Two or more years of experience in adolescent health care. Experience assessing, diagnosing, and treating acute and chronic illnesses. Experience documenting in an electronic medical record. Relevant years of State service experience. Conditions of Employment Minimum 21 years of age, no felony convictions or history of domestic violence. Must be a resident of the State of Colorado at the time of application and throughout employment. Background checks (including criminal, professional license, and drug screening), and a valid, non‑restricted Colorado Driver’s License if driving is required. Shift work (24/7 facility) with potential evenings, weekends, and travel to other Division facilities for coverage and training. Completion of the Division’s Pre‑service Training Academy, Field Training Program, and mandatory annual training is required.
