Corporate Innovation Lawyer

Overview Serve as an Innovation Lawyer (Corporate) to develop and drive AI strategy and enablement for transactional lawyers, specifically focusing on corporate and commercial work. This role is embedded within the Technology Department, aligned with the Corporate & Finance Transactions (CFT) Department, and is integral to the firm’s Legal Evolution in AI Program (LEAP). Primary responsibilities include identifying and implementing high-value AI use cases across Corporate PGs (Corporate Transactions, Technology, Commercial & Data, Tax, Employee Benefits, Private Client), supporting AI platform pilots, and standardizing/scaling successful AI solutions. Provide dedicated support to lawyers for AI prompt design and execution, assist in adopting AI-enabled workflows, integrate AI into associate training programs, and deliver technology presentations and training. Collaborate with practice group leaders, partners, and LEAP Leadership. While primarily US-focused, proactively support global AI transformation efforts and integrate new AI tools with existing firm technologies. Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience as a corporate lawyer within a large US national or international law firm. Candidates should have experience in a legal technology role (preferred) OR a demonstrated keen interest in AI, a proven track record of using technology to support legal practice, and a strong ambition for AI transformation. Key skills include a detailed understanding of corporate legal workflows, a process-driven mindset, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence colleagues and deliver training. An understanding of product development and management, UI/UX concepts, user testing, or process mapping is highly desirable. This is not a predominantly fee-earning role, but requires time recording and occasional fee-earning work without specific targets. The estimated Illinois pay range is $136,000 to $210,000 annually, with an additional discretionary bonus.
