Phlebotomist 3

Octapharma Plasma is expanding rapidly and seeks a Phlebotomist Level 3 to help donors and patients while maintaining the highest production standards. Responsibilities Ensure the operation complies with FDA‑approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP, and other relevant regulations. Maintain a high level of customer service and positive donor experience in line with company values. Keep the work area clean and maintain a professional environment. Review and confirm donor identification and preserve donor confidentiality per SOPs. Set up and prepare all equipment and disposable supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis procedures. Label and ensure each unit and sample is labeled accurately. Execute venipunctures and plasma collection while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. Operate the automated plasmapheresis machines, respond to all machine alarms and alerts, manage donor adverse events, and document exceptions. Monitor donor conditions, employing techniques to ensure donor comfort, safety, and product quality. Maintain the proper ratio to ensure donor safety and product quality. Disconnect donors and handle the disposal of biohazardous waste and contaminated equipment, including cleaning spills and following safety protocols. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly calibration/maintenance of automated plasmapheresis machines and replace equipment when necessary. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of necessary records, including machine logs. Report all unsafe situations and conditions to management. Stock and replenish supplies on plasma carts. Mentor junior phlebotomists and serve as a designated trainer to ensure training efficiencies. Troubleshoot machine alarms and alerts and perform routine quality checks (daily/monthly). Partner with Quality Assurance on donor floor performance, including CAPA implementation and continuous improvement initiatives. Assist with storage room organization and perform tasks following the First In, First Out method. Oversee donor flow, organize lunch schedules, breaks, and ensure overall schedule adherence. Upon completion of initial training, train as QA‑Backup and/or NexSys Technician and perform related duties as required by business needs. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. State‑specific certification or licensing as required. Minimum three months of experience in a medical or health‑care environment or equivalent combination of education and experience. Completed documentation of training appropriate for duties prior to independent performance. Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English. Strong customer service skills. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal protocols. Basic computer knowledge and skills. Ability to make accurate and complete documentation. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to function effectively in a fast‑paced environment with frequent interruptions. Demonstrated consistency and reliability (good attendance, punctuality, full effort throughout shift, flexibility with schedule). Ability to work daytime and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis. Ability to perform venipunctures. Effective communication skills. Enhanced collaboration and adaptability skills. Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty‑five pounds. Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel. Utilise all required PPE at all times. Occupational exposure to blood‑borne pathogens. Ability to view a video display terminal less than 18 inches away from face for extended periods. Ability to work in an environment with a temperature of -40 C or colder for extended periods. Occasional exposure to and handling of dry ice. Ability to perform precise tasks that require repetitive small motor skills, such as drawing blood for diagnostic tests.
