Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Variable Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of CT experience in a healthcare setting License: Licensure in state of practice as applicable Certifications: Basic Life Support Certification (BLS), ARRT Certification (Radiologic Technologist), preferred CT certification Must-Have: - Understanding of sectional anatomy and anatomic terminology - Proficiency in operating CT equipment and familiarity with imaging techniques and protocols - Knowledge of contrast administration protocols and contrast injector operation - Ability to recognize emergent patient situations and respond appropriately - Ability to function independently and as part of a team - Effective communication skills with caregivers and patients - Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain a clean, safe environment Description: The CT Technologist performs a variety of CT procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This position requires ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgment to perform high-quality scans. Maintains competency in all clinical and technical functions of the job. Understands and operates CT equipment and related information systems to ensure the production of quality images. Ensures proper patient identification and order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam. Performs exams adhering to department protocols. Reviews and evaluates images for quality, clarity, and accuracy, ensuring all necessary anatomical structures are captured. Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment for patients and staff. Completes studies within acceptable time limitations per department expectations without compromising patient care or image quality. Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses patient and/or family concerns. Coordinates patient care and communicates pertinent information to other patient care providers following procedures. Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques. Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions or incidents. Follows appropriate protocols for medical necessity, coding, and charging, obtaining necessary consents. Maintains applicable quality control programs and reports any equipment failures or problems. Administers contrast media to patients as ordered by the physician, providing education regarding safety concerns. Stays updated with the latest advancements in CT technology, techniques, and protocols by participating in continuing education and professional development activities. Assists and instructs students and other radiology technologists in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.
