Director Of After-School Day Care Program - Temporary Part-Time

Ensures that each elementary student is provided with a safe and educational experience in the after school program.

Plans and carries out an engaging and age-appropriate program for After School Day Care Services to include the review and development for all activities. Develops and maintains effective supervision of daycare staff and students. The Director will develop the structure of the program based on the needs and interests of the students and their parents, manage the program staff, and maintain relationships with the community. The Director of the after-school program is responsible for collaboration with school for the recruitment, hiring, and training of all staff. The Director is the immediate supervisor of the staff. The Director also performs performance evaluations and works towards continuous professional development plans for the staff to ensure the program maintains a high level of quality. The Director will manage the operations of the after-school center or program, from ensuring that the staff have the tools and equipment they need to do their jobs, to monitoring the environment for health and safety hazards. The Director will also be involved with the financial management of the organization, in terms of budgeting, purchasing, and accounts payable with the school administration and the bookkeeper. Because the success of any afterschool program depends on its ability to attract students and provide them with meaningful and enriching experiences, the afterschool program Director needs to build relationships with schools, parents, and community groups to spread the word about the program and build support for it. The director may meet with parents, church groups, community groups and school representatives to discuss the program and its benefits and seek feedback on how it can better serve children.

Supervises assigned coordinators and program areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

High School Diploma or GED. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Preferred experience in working with preschool and/or toddlers. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stand. The employee must be able to reach with their hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee frequently communicates through speech. The work environment can be fast-paced. The employee is continuously interacting with the staff, students, and parents, while still maintaining adequate supervision of the program.
