MACHINIST - DAY SHIFT

Alexandria, MN (Douglas County, west central Minnesota) | Full-time, direct hire

Schedule: Days, 4-day workweek, 10-hour shifts (may run 10 to 12 hours when needed)

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00/hour depending on experience

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

A precision component machining and machine-building manufacturer, part of a global industrial company, is adding a Machinist to its Alexandria, MN plant. The site handles complex component machining and supplies complete machines and service to customers worldwide. You will run every machine in a production cell with little or no assistance while meeting or beating standards for quality, productivity and safety.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Set up and run all machines in a production cell: load the part, run the machine, remove the part and inspect it

- Inspect your own work to prints and manage your time to hit rate the majority of the time

- Maximize setups and tooling on current and upcoming jobs and use cycle time for additional operations

- Hold an exceptional level of quality on every part

- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as requested

- Help train cell personnel when asked

- Follow all quality procedures, safety rules and good 5S practices

- Look for continuous improvement opportunities and work as part of a team

EQUIPMENT

Lathes, CNC machines, grinders, saws, hob, Redine, inspection tools, vise, computers, forklift, pallet jack, carts, ladders

WHAT YOU NEED

- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar machine shop setting

- Ability to read prints and inspect your own parts

- Good communication skills

- Regular and consistent attendance

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT

- Standing up to 10 hours per shift; walking up to 2 hours per day

- Bending, squatting, crawling and ladder climbing

- Lift up to 50 lbs from floor level; carry up to 35 lbs; push up to 36 lbs force

- Safety glasses with side shields and leather footwear required in the shop; ear plugs provided

- Light forklift traffic, slight machine noise, moderate exposure to slippery surfaces
