Distributed Energy Systems Postdoc

Post‑Doctoral Position: Distributed Energy Resources The Department of Architectural Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Post‑Doctoral position focused on distributed energy resource (DER) technology. Candidates should have a strong background in CHP, hybrid systems with solar PV, solar thermal, and storage technologies. Familiarity with microgrids or district thermal networks and experience with economic return‑on‑investment analysis of existing systems is desirable. Responsibilities Lead research on emerging DER technologies. Publish and present research findings to technical and non‑technical audiences. Mentor graduate students. Contribute to proposal development and reporting to project sponsors. Qualifications Ph.D. in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field by the start date of the appointment. Highly motivated, creative, and collaborative with strong analytical skills. Expertise in analyzing DER configurations relative to conventional separate heat and power (SHP) systems on the basis of prime energy efficiency, emissions, and economics. Knowledge of technologies for waste heat recovery. Excellent oral and written communication skills for conveying technical concepts to semi‑technical and non‑technical audiences and potential end‑use adopters.
