Shift Lead

Are you an experienced manufacturing leader who thrives on the shop floor? We are seeking two Temporary Shift Leads (1 Day Shift, 1 Night Shift) to serve as the primary on-site liaison and operational support for a dedicated team of Machine Operators at Southwire’s Building Wire Plant in Carrollton, GA.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between contingent team members and plant leadership—ensuring safety compliance, driving shift productivity, and keeping daily operations running smoothly.

salary: $25 - $26 per hour

work hours: 7 AM - 7 PM

Responsibilities

• Shift Operations & Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for 8 temporary Machine Operators during assigned day or night shifts, ensuring team members are at their workstations and executing daily production goals.

• Safety & Compliance Liaison: Model and enforce all Southwire safety protocols, dress code rules (including steel-toe compliance and PPE), and standard operating procedures on the shop floor.

• Attendance & Time Tracking: Conduct shift check-ins, monitor daily attendance/punctuality, and coordinate with agency account management to address call-outs or staffing needs promptly.

• Floor Support & Communication: Help onboard new team members to shift routines, address immediate line-level questions, and escalate machinery, quality, or personnel issues directly to Southwire shift supervisors.

• Issue Resolution: Act as a peer mentor and first line of support to help resolve day-to-day workflow bottlenecks or team concerns.

The essential functions of this role include:

• working in a smoke free environment
• wearing steel toe shoes
• standing for 6 hours at one time
• working up to 5 hrs of overtime per week
