Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Alexandria, Louisiana. This position involves providing specialized care in a high-acuity obstetric unit within a dedicated womens and childrens hospital. The role entails assisting with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, amniocentesis, amnioinfusions, and fetal monitoring. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.

Job Details:

• Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
• Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Current BLS, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications; proficiency in starting IVs and drawing labs; ability to interpret fetal strips; proficiency in vaginal exams; OB circulator experience; no minimum years of experience required
• Preferred Qualifications: Ability to scrub in for procedures; prior experience with fetal monitors, intrauterine pressure catheters (IUPC), fetal scalp electrode (FSE), and other obstetric equipment; excellent organizational skills and compassionate demeanor
• Additional Information:
  • Unit type: Labor and Delivery with associated postpartum care
  • Patient ratios: 1:1 or 2:1 depending on acuity
  • Equipment: fetal monitors, IUPC, FSE, fluid warmer, IV pumps, epidural pumps
  • Typical procedures include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, amniocentesis, amnioinfusions, IUPC/FSE placement
  • Dress code: Teal scrubs for nursing staff, navy scrubs for techs
  • Weekends and on-call rotation: Every other weekend, possible circulator call
  • Float: No floating required; assigned to a fixed unit
  • Unit policies and guidelines: To be attached as needed
