Job Overview As a Registered Dietitian on the Advanced Heart Failure, Heart Transplant & Mechanical Circulatory Support team at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix, you will provide comprehensive nutrition services and education to patients with advanced heart failure, pre/post heart transplantation, and pre/post mechanical circulatory support device implantation. You will conduct nutritional assessments, perform nutrition‑focused physical exams, develop and manage individualized nutrition care plans, provide patient and family education, and participate in quality improvement and research initiatives. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nutrition assessment of patients’ nutritional needs, including nutrition‑focused physical exams as appropriate. Obtain timely data and analyze/interpet it based on evidence‑based standards and established practice guidelines. Demonstrate competency in enteral and parenteral clinical practice protocols and oral nutrition management standard of practice. Initiate and manage the nutrition care for all assigned patients, including writing orders where applicable per state regulations. Evaluate effectiveness of the care plan and communicate findings to the healthcare team to provide optimal nutrition outcomes. Provide nutrition education to patients, families, staff, and other health‑care team professionals through development of teaching materials and in‑service programs. Provide leadership in area of coverage, monitor proper patient care procedures, and act as liaison with nursing areas. Mentor new staff and interns as assigned. Participate in continuous quality improvement activities in clinical areas and may participate in outcome studies as needed. May manage assigned staff, including recruiting, selecting, training, evaluating, and managing performance. Provide community education on nutrition when appropriate. Minimum Qualifications BA/BS in Nutrition, Dietetics, or equivalent coursework. Registered Dietitian (RD) or RD‑eligible status within 6 months of hire. Current registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Maintain ongoing registration verification annually. Maintain current licensure as required by state law. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and prioritize patient caseload. For positions in certain behavioral health settings, possession of an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and completion of an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit is required. Preferred Qualifications Additional related education and/or experience in cardiac nutrition, transplant, or mechanical circulatory support care.
