Shift & Status Full time, 7:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., Every other weekend. Job Summary This position is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients, specimens, and medication throughout the hospital as assigned. Essential Functions Transport patients safely, timely, and efficiently, including assisting with lifting patients on and off beds and moving patients throughout the hospital. Recognize if a patient is experiencing stress or other issues during transport and immediately seek assistance. Monitor O2, IVs, catheters, etc., and alert appropriate personnel with problems 100% of the time. Inform supervisor/dispatcher of all delays within 10 minutes. Maintain transport equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner and return all equipment to the appropriate location. Maintain and complete all departmental records, complete proper handoff before removing a patient from a department or unit. Check all patient ID bands and complete two patient identifiers prior to transportation. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures. Understand and demonstrate safe lifting and transport techniques. Know and practice universal precautions as appropriate. Demonstrate communication skills to interact with courtesy, tact, empathy, and professionalism in daily interactions with patients, their families, clinical licensed and non‑licensed staff, physicians, and management. Understand and follow directions, and comply with HIPAA confidentiality requirements. May be responsible for transporting specimens, oxygen, stretchers, and other items as assigned. Actively participate in safety initiatives and risk‑mitigating measures, completing all position and unit safety‑related competencies and requirements on a timely basis. Perform other duties as assigned. Pay Range: $16.49 to $20.21 per hour, based on experience. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA American Heart Association or ARC American Red Cross upon hire. Demonstrated communication skills to interact with courtesy, tact, empathy, and professionalism in daily interactions with patients, their families, clinical licensed and non‑licensed staff, physicians, and management. Prior transport experience (preferred).
