Manager, Energy Systems Operations Job Summary Provides overall management of Energy Management and Controls System (EMCS), Lighting Controls and Utility Metering systems. Provides project development and project management by designing projects, writing specifications, preparing construction documents and managing outside contractors pertaining to utility energy systems. Provides supervision of EMCS Technicians. Identifies, documents, details and justifies energy conservation, efficiency and optimization opportunities across campus. Responsibilities Utilize a thorough understanding of cutting‑edge technologies and trends; identify, document, detail and justify energy conservation, efficiency and optimization opportunities across campus. Manage consultants and contractors in the planning, development and implementation of energy conservation projects. Collaborate with the Assistant Director to ensure energy efficiency technologies and concepts are implemented on campus. Maintain and analyze databases to provide management reports on energy usage, determine effectiveness of various systems, draw conclusions and recommend energy conservation measures, and provide other reports as required. Project management to include development/management of project schedules through time management tools (i.e. Gantt Charts). Cooperate with consultants and contractors to repair existing systems, design, install and implement new systems. Continuously assess the efficiency of systems and identify the need for any new strategies or systems. Act as a resource to the UNO community. Supervise, prioritize, instruct, coordinate, plan and inspect work of EMCS technicians to ensure efficient, effective, and timely support services. Review applications, conduct interviews and make recommendations for hire. Participate in the HR process of coaching, corrective actions and termination. Develop training and mentoring programs to assure a path for advancement and succession management. Think and act in the context of a competitive marketplace where client perceptions and satisfaction are key. Demonstrate understanding of what the client wants and expectations on how the work can meet their needs. Provide timely and proactive communications. Assure results and installation meets client expectations and commitments. Required Qualifications Associate’s degree in a building HVAC systems related area of study such as HVAC Systems Technology, Electronics, Controls, etc. Minimum of five years’ experience in the design and installation of HVAC – EMS systems, including project and personnel management. Experience in energy management. Valid Driver’s License. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Construction or technical related field. Prior experience with Niagara/Tridium, BACnet & Siemens systems. Experience with lighting controls and utility metering systems, along with knowledge on integrating these systems together. Experience with EnergyCAP software. Compliance Requirements Credit Check required. Motor Vehicle Licensing Validity Check required. Pre‑employment Physical Request and Assessment required.
