NDT Quality Test Spec 3

Responsible for performing and overseeing nondestructive testing (NDT) procedures in accordance with applicable industry standards. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity and safety of aerospace components and systems. The technician will utilize various NDT methods, including but not limited to ultrasonic, eddy current, radiographic, magnetic particle, and liquid penetrant testing, to detect defects and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Set up and standardize NDT equipment, conduct system performance checks, process parts, interpret inspection results, determine acceptance or rejection criteria, and document findings. Complete required formal training and certification requirements for applicable NDT methods, along with any additional training required to support business needs (e.g., Computed Tomography). Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the scope and limitations of the NDT methods in which certified. Assist in the development and implementation of NDT procedures and work instructions. Conduct system performance checks in accordance with applicable process standards. Maintain familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, specifications, and customer requirements governing assigned inspection methods. Provide guidance and oversight to Level I technicians and trainees while promoting safe work practices. Apply a working knowledge of manufacturing processes and inspection technologies. Maintain NDT equipment and ensure calibration and operational readiness. Inspect and report any issues with reference standards or inspection equipment to the appropriate technical authority. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve nonconformance issues. Participate in internal and external audits as required. Stay current with industry standards, emerging NDT technologies, and best practices. Maintain a basic understanding of aircraft or vehicle maintenance principles. Develop written work instructions based on approved procedures for review and final approval by authorized technical personnel. Perform quality surveillance activities and support corrective actions as assigned. Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical degree or certificate in Nondestructive Testing or a related field preferred. Documented formal NDT training required. Certification NAS410 Level II certification in at least one NDT method (e.g., Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy Current Testing, Radiographic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, or Liquid Penetrant Testing) preferred or required, depending on program needs. Skills Strong understanding of NDT principles and inspection techniques. Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Strong commitment to quality, safety, and ethical work practices. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
