Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week assignment requiring 2 years of general surgery experience and travel assignment history.

Details

• Operating Room unit within a hospital setting
• Day shift schedule with flexible 8-hour and 12-hour shifts (0645-1515, 1045-1915, or 0645-1915)
• On-call responsibilities required, covering 7a-7p or 7p-7a 12-hour blocks
• Up to 5 on-call shifts per 6-week schedule, with an average of about 3, mostly on weekends
• Required to work one 12-hour buddy call orientation shift within the first two weeks (weekend Sa/Su 7a or 7p)
• Cerner EMR used

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD state license or compact license) required in hand
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of general surgery experience required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
• Community hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous travel assignment experience required
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years
• Skilled in general OR procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, and thyroidectomy
• Experience with universal protocol (time out), specimen handling, peripheral IV starts, and conscious sedation monitoring preferred

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care across general surgery and related OR specialties
• Scrubs provided
• Must complete facility- and unit-specific compliance modules within one week of signing the contract
• Must complete labs and drug screening appointment within 48 hours of signing
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Maximum of 7 RTO days allowed per 13-week contract
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
• Must complete at least one prior travel assignment to be considered
