Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring at least 1 year of experience, Epic proficiency, and an active FL or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the PCU/Stepdown unit of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, and post-neurosurgical cases such as CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Required to work every other weekend or a total of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to other units or facility locations including Cape Canaveral, Holmes Regional, Palm Bay, and Viera
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active FL or compact RN license required at time of consideration (no pending licenses accepted)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, and arterial line care
• Respiratory care skills including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response protocols
• Two professional references from a supervisor, manager, charge nurse, or director within the past year required for consideration
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31-3/31) unless medical or religious exemption applies

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a progressive care/stepdown environment supporting neurological and cardiac patients
• Participate in holiday and hurricane coverage as required by facility needs
• Scrubs must be a single matching color (tops and bottoms) with no logos or prints
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Former employees or contracted staff must wait at least one year after separation before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers with no radius restriction
• Travel pairs are permitted with unit leader approval, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
• All time off requests must be submitted at the time of consideration and are finalized during the interview process
