Bioanalytical Scientist We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bioanalytical Scientist to join our Large Molecule Assay Development team within Research and Breakthrough Innovation at Elanco. This laboratory-based position is focused on the development, validation, and execution of ligand-binding assays (LBAs) to quantify monoclonal antibodies and other protein therapeutics in biological matrices. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with immunoassay platforms and a deep understanding of the unique challenges associated with the bioanalysis of large molecules. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and optimize ligand-binding assays (e.g., ELISA, MSD, Gyros) for the quantification of monoclonal antibodies in various biological fluids. Perform fit-for-purpose bioanalytical methods according to internal SOPs and global regulatory guidelines, assessing assay performance characteristics such as accuracy, precision, selectivity, sensitivity, and stability. Analyze samples from preclinical and clinical studies to provide high-quality data to our project teams. Characterize, conjugate, and manage critical reagents (e.g., capture/detection antibodies, standards) to ensure long-term assay consistency and performance. Independently troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with assays. Evaluate and implement new technologies and platforms to improve assay sensitivity, throughput, and robustness. Meticulously document all experimental procedures and results in an electronic lab notebook (ELN). Work in a highly collaborative, cross-functional matrix environment, communicating effectively with team members at various levels. What You Need to Succeed Required Qualifications Ph.D. in Immunology, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline; OR M.S. with 3+ years of relevant industry experience; OR B.S. with 5+ years of relevant industry experience. Demonstrated hands-on experience developing, validating, and running ligand-binding assays (LBAs). Strong understanding of the principles of pharmacokinetics for biologic drugs. Proficiency with common immunoassay platforms, with ELISA experience as a minimum. What Will Give You a Competitive Edge Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with advanced immunoassay platforms such as Meso Scale Discovery (MSD), Gyros, or Quanterix. Experience with the development and validation of immunogenicity (Anti-Drug Antibody, ADA) assays. Familiarity with cell-based neutralizing antibody (NAb) assays. Strong data analysis skills and experience with relevant software (e.g., SoftMax Pro, Benchling). Excellent problem-solving abilities and a high degree of scientific rigor.
