Evaluates assessment data to identify nutrition risks, nutrition problems, criteria consistent with malnutrition, knowledge deficits, and high-risk health behaviors. Offers nutrition interventions, orders, education, counseling, and referrals to other services. May place feeding tubes or perform indirect calorimetry studies. Provides counseling and education using evidence-based techniques that reflect appropriate health literacy and cultural sensitivity to patients with disease processes requiring nutritional management. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English [Required] Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required] Comprehensive knowledge and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy [Required] General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, e-mail, and spreadsheet software [Required] Ability to search the web for nutrition research or practice updates and apply knowledge to updating reference materials, preparing for presentations, education, etc. [Required] Avails self to staff on units as the nutrition expert [Required] Education Bachelor's [Required] Field Of Study N/A Work Experience N/A Additional Information Additional licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific unit or state in which this position is located.
