Your work behind the scenes directly shapes the shopping experience our customers love.If you enjoy staying active, take pride in doing things right, and like being part of a hardworking team, this could be a great fit for you.What You'll DoNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly in all areas of the store and helping them find what they needAssist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and passing along any feedback or requests to the teamUnload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate product to ensure freshnessLabel all product containers in the backroom and storage areas with the date receivedTag shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawersMonitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and wrong deliveries, and report issues accordinglyOrganize stock for greatest efficiency and clean and restock any damaged itemsOperate the cash register to complete customer transactions accurately and efficiently as neededStock supplies including cigarettes, front-end sacks, and department suppliesAssist with outside maintenance including shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and returning cartsHelp with cleaning throughout the store including registers, restrooms, breakroom, and backroomAssist store management with displays, decorations, and special promotions as neededMaintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policiesAssist in other store areas and take on special projects as neededYou'll receive direction and support from: District Store Director, Store Manager, and Center Store ManagerYour SkillsYou don't need prior experience for this role! We'll happily train and support you as you grow. To be successful, you'll need to be able to:Follow written and verbal instructions with confidenceUse basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentagesCommunicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful wayStay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy store environmentLess than a high school diploma or equivalent accepted; up to six months of similar or related experience preferredReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director, Store Manager, and Center Store ManagerEducation and ExperienceLess than a high school diploma or equivalent experience acceptedUp to six months of similar or related work experience preferredPhysical RequirementsAbility to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistanceContinuously stand and walk on hard surfaces for extended periodsWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or similar material-handling equipment (required operator certification must be completed prior to independent use)Work in cooler or freezer environments for extended periodsWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades to cut, trim, or grind productWhere applicable to the role, and in accordance with applicable age and legal requirements: operate a cardboard baler or compactorWhere applicable to the role: perform repetitive motions associated with dough mixing, scaling, and proofingAbility to unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandiseWorking EnvironmentThis is a physically demanding, hands-on role performed throughout the store. You may encounter daily exposure to dirt, noise, equipment movement hazards, and cleaning chemicals or solvents, with occasional exposure to temperature extremes and potential electrical shock. The role involves working with and around heavy store equipment. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.Join our team
