A large, modern manufacturing facility in the Eastern Indianapolis area is seeking multiple Machine Operators to support 2nd and 3rd shift production. In this role, you operate and monitor industrial machinery, perform basic tooling changes, and ensure that all manufactured parts meet strict quality specifications. You work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment that requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to perform repetitive tasks safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate up to four industrial machines simultaneously, following established operating procedures and safety standards.
• Use basic hand and power tools to perform tooling changes and adjustments on production equipment.
• Utilize quality instruments such as calipers and other measuring tools to verify that parts meet required quality specifications.
• Perform repetitive manual lifting, pushing, and movement of materials throughout the department as part of the production process.
• Accurately document materials, batch numbers, and other production information in accordance with internal guidelines and quality requirements.
• Read and interpret basic blueprints and work instructions to set up machines and complete mechanical assembly tasks correctly.
• Monitor machine performance, identify issues, and perform basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime and maintain consistent production flow.
• Operate presses, lasers, CNC equipment, and other machinery as assigned, ensuring proper setup and safe operation.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following 5S and housekeeping standards to support a safe and efficient production environment.
• Stand and walk for 8 to 12 hours per shift while working in a hot but clean manufacturing environment.
• Participate fully in the on-site training program, including lecture-style classes and hands-on machinery training, and apply learned skills to daily work.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to ergonomic and material-handling guidelines.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of machine operating experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Consistent work history with 1+ year per job, demonstrating reliability and commitment.
• Ability to operate multiple industrial machines at a time while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Proficiency using basic hand tools and power tools to change tooling and perform minor adjustments.
• Mechanical aptitude and a mechanically inclined mindset, with the ability to understand how machines and components function.
• Experience with machine operation, including press operating, laser operation, and mechanical assembly tasks.
• Ability to use quality instruments such as calipers and other measuring tools to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
• Basic blueprint reading skills to understand part requirements and machine setup instructions.
• Capability to perform repetitive manual lifting, pushing, and material handling throughout the shift.
• Ability to withstand heat and remain on your feet for 8 to 12 hours at a time in a production environment.
• Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve minor mechanical or process issues on the production floor.
• Comfort working with CNC and other mechanical equipment in a high-volume manufacturing setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in a large-scale manufacturing facility is beneficial.
• Familiarity with mechanical assembly processes and production workflows.
• Experience operating multiple types of industrial machinery, including presses, lasers, and CNC equipment.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and quality procedures with strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to work effectively with trainers, supervisors, and team members during both training and regular production.
• Willingness to participate in extended training, including lecture-based learning and hands-on machine operation over a 6- to 8-week period.
• Comfort working overtime, including 2 to 4 hours added to the end of a shift and occasional Saturday work with advance notice.
• Demonstrated reliability in attendance and punctuality in previous roles.

Work Environment

The role is based in a modern manufacturing facility of approximately 1 million square feet in the Eastern Indianapolis region. The environment is very hot depending on department, but it is kept clean and organized, with a focus on safety and quality. You operate various industrial machines, including presses, lasers, CNC equipment, and other mechanical machinery, and use hand and power tools along with quality instruments such as calipers. The position requires standing and walking for 8 to 12 hours per shift and performing repetitive material handling tasks. Training takes place on 1st shift for approximately 6 to 8 weeks, from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, in an on-site Global Training Center that provides both lecture-style and hands-on instruction. After training, you move to your assigned shift: 2nd shift runs 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM Monday through Friday, and 3rd shift runs 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM Sunday through Thursday. Overtime is common, with 2 to 4 hours added at the end of shifts and occasional Saturday work with advance notice. The facility emphasizes a professional, safety-conscious atmosphere, with appropriate industrial attire and personal protective equipment required.

This is a Permanent position based out of Greenfield, IN.

The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $49920.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
