General Practice Veterinarian - Five Oaks Animal Hospital

Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and skilled General Practice Veterinarian to join our busy, fast‑paced small animal practice at Five Oaks Animal Hospital in Kinston, North Carolina. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing high‑quality veterinary care, possess excellent communication skills, and work collaboratively with a team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff. The role reports to the Hospital Manager and works closely with the Regional Manager. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups. Communicate and educate clients about diagnoses and treatment plans. Perform diagnostic procedures and surgeries as required. Maintain accurate medical records and pharmacy duties, including prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols. Promote teamwork and staff efficiency. Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations. Evaluate and monitor hospital protocols from intake to discharge. Oversee cases and attend daily rounds to ensure high standards are upheld. Participate in practice management updates and training at all levels. Complete additional duties assigned by management. Qualifications (Required) Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an accredited institution. Active State Veterinary License. DEA registration. At least 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice. Strong diagnostic and clinical skills. Excellent surgical and dental skills. Team‑oriented mindset with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality care. Ability to handle physical demands, including the potential to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Clinical expertise in a range of examinations and diagnosing conditions. Problem‑solving skills for hospital management challenges. Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and staff. Professionalism and constructive feedback. Business acumen related to veterinary practice operations.
