What You Will Do:

The Digital Navigator is a member of the BCNC Adult Education and Workforce team. Adult Education prepares adult immigrant learners with the education, training, and guidance that lead them to successful employment and family-sustaining wages. You will strengthen immigrant adults and teach individuals English and the critical skills they need to thrive in today’s economy. You will report directly to the Curriculum & Instructional Specialist.

In this role, you will:

• Lead implementation of the Organization’s Digital Equity Fund project for immigrant adults with limited English proficiency.
• Develop and adapt digital literacy curriculum for English language learners using the Organization’s computer skills curriculum, Tech Goes Home resources, and AI for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) materials.
• Plan and teach three in-person, eight-week courses: Foundational Computer Skills, Basic Computer Skills, and Intermediate Computer Skills (approximately nine hours of instruction per week during the 8-week class session).
• Provide approximately three hours per week of open-lab digital navigation and individualized support (for example: with devices, affordable internet options, email accounts, online forms, job applications, telehealth portals, public services, and other participant-identified needs).
• Recruit participants through the Organization programs, community partners, multilingual outreach, and neighborhood-based activities in Chinatown and nearby communities.
• Coordinate day-to-day classroom support with the Bilingual Class Assistants assigned to each course and provide clear lesson preparation, assignments, and feedback.
• Administer or support intake, attendance tracking, pre- and post-surveys, and documentation of digital navigation services and participant outcomes.
• Maintain an organized computer lab; set up and troubleshoot devices and accessories; track inventory; and support end-of-project cleaning, maintenance, and storage.
• Participate in supervision and program meetings and communicate regularly with the Curriculum & Instructional Specialist and, as needed, the Director of Adult Education about progress, participant needs, and implementation challenges.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

What We Look For:

• Bachelor’s degree in education, adult education, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), instructional technology, social services, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
• At least two years of relevant experience in digital literacy instruction, adult education, ESOL, digital navigation, community education, or a closely related field preferred.
• Demonstrate ability to teach adults with varying levels of English proficiency and digital experience using patient, hands-on, and culturally responsive approaches.
• Strong working knowledge of Chromebooks, Google Workspace, online forms, and basic device troubleshooting; familiarity with Northstar, AI tools, and participant databases is preferred.
• Ability to plan instruction, maintain accurate records, and complete time-sensitive grant deliverables.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated commitment to serving immigrant, low-income, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
• Professional working proficiency in one or more of the following languages is preferred: Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, French, or Haitian Creole.

Working Conditions:

• Must be available to work a flexible schedule and may require local travel during the workday.
• This position involves performing essential job functions in typical work environments, including but not limited to offices, classrooms, or community settings. Duties may require routine movement such as walking, standing, and bending. Depending on the role, responsibilities may also include the ability to move items weighing up to 25–50 pounds, and the use of computer equipment and effective communication. All essential functions can be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
