Heavy Equipment OperatorThe Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a bulldozer to raise or lower terrain to specified grades, following markings on grade stakes or hand signals. The operator may also service and make normal operating adjustments to the equipment.ResponsibilitiesOperate bulldozer in successive passes to achieve desired terrain grade.Follow markings on grade stakes or respond to hand signals for precise grading.Perform regular servicing and make necessary adjustments to equipment.Ensure all operations adhere to safety regulations and standards.Essential Skills1 to 3 years of bulldozer operating experience.Knowledge of construction techniques.Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with tremble GPS and Topcon systems.DOT experience is preferred but not required.Competency in dependability, productivity, and effective communication.Ability to follow policies and procedures and work safely.Why Work Here?Enjoy the opportunity to secure a permanent position after a successful contract period, with the added benefits of paid holiday and sick leave. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, VA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
