GENERAL DESCRIPTION : Responsible for overseeing testing of products and all quality aspects of processes within their area of responsibility. Responsible for maintaining inter-department relationships as it relates to all quality issues, testing and validation of new products, following up on implementation of permanent corrective actions to improve the overall product quality.

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Quality Inspectors

AUTHORITY:

·      Enforce and promote the quality system and local/division goals.

·      Promote awareness of customer requirements and legal requirements at all levels of the organization.

·       Promote compliance to quality and environmental policies/procedures and support creation.

·       Stop any process relevant to quality or safety.

·       Report to management any customer quality issues.

·       Inform management of any opportunity for improvement.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Include but are not limited to):

·       Determine appropriate use of existing and new measurement systems during new tool or process design and startup.

·       Coordinate and lead the Measurement System Analysis (MSA) process for  testing instruments and analyze/report the data using appropriate statistical techniques. Serve as site’s MSA subject matter expert (SME).

·       Manage calibration schedule for test instruments and support troubleshooting activities, purchasing and inventory management of gages, calipers, etc. for new products.

·       Support engineering change control, process validation and equipment qualification/re-qualification in a manufacturing setting for key or strategic projects.

·       Implementing methods to inspect, test and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing processes, products and production equipment for new products.

·       Supervise team of Quality Inspectors to test product quality and release materials and products for distribution.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

·       Working knowledge of SPC, Process Validation and testing of mechanical components

·       4 years of college degree in industrial or mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience

·       5+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance or similar role

·       In-depth knowledge of ISO 13485, Good Documentation Practices and other applicable standards

·       Skilled in information technology, including setting up and maintaining automated test data collection at testing stations

·       Knowledgeable and experience in performing calibration and issuing calibration certificates

·       Advanced proficiency in SAP and MS Office products. Knowledge of use of Smartsheet is a plus.

·       Excellent communication and organizational skills

·       Certified Quality Engineer or equivalent experience is a plus
