Senior Product Development Engineer

Job Overview Molex Busbar is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to lead design and development of custom busbar solutions for EV, datacom, power distribution and industrial automation markets. The role supports engineering and design activities, including DFM evaluation, design, architecture, NPI management, and manufacturing support for rigid, multi‑layer laminated, and flexible busbar configurations. Responsibilities Develop new product designs through all phases to bring concepts into production. Interact directly with customers during design phases to verify requirements and make design recommendations; read and interpret customer drawings. Lead design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM) with cost‑effective materials and processes. Own the full design cycle and coordinate with supporting design and manufacturing engineers from raw material to fabrication, machining, forming, plating, installation, and shipping. Work with manufacturing teams to develop cost estimates and project options. Travel to customers and manufacturing facilities as needed. Follow up and expedite all action items within a new product program. Interface with external clients and internal partners to ensure design objectives are met on schedule, providing product information, engineering samples, and technical advice. Perform hands‑on activities such as mechanical screen tests, prototype fabrication, and part measurements. Basic Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field. 8+ years of related experience, preferably in busbar design and development. Strong knowledge of different types of busbars and their applications. Strong understanding of busbar manufacturing processes. Advanced solid modeling skills to generate 3D models and 2D drawings. Strong knowledge of reading technical drawings and understanding GD&T. Education or training in metal fabrication, stamping, plating, and/or assembly. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Siemens NX 2D and 3D CAD. Design experience in laminated busbars (including fixture design), flexible busbars, extruded busbars, or automotive busbars. Experience with high‑power/high‑voltage systems. Experience working with IT / Telecom and datacenter customers. Ability to multi‑task and manage multiple projects. Effective teamwork skills. Ability to develop and meet project schedules with contingency plans. Big‑picture thinking and future needs identification. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Compensation Salary range: $130,000 – $180,000 per year. The role is eligible for variable pay, paid as bonus or other monetary form.
