Construction Engineer

Location: Hartford, CT

Duration: 12 Months

Work Schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days remote. This position will require significant time working in the field (70%+).

Targeted Years of Experience: 5–7 years

Responsibilities

• Hands-on experience with the design and installation of equipment used in transmitting broadband data over in-building networks.
• Hands-on experience with coaxial, twisted-pair copper, or fiber optic cabling and complex networks, as well as switching equipment.
• Experience coordinating the installation of new in-building networks or equipment.
• Ability to evaluate multi-tenant residential and commercial buildings to determine compatibility with different networks and systems.
• Experience managing large broadband infrastructure build projects and ensuring timely planning and implementation.
• Experience producing technical as-built documentation.
• Ability to provide general ad hoc operational support for local field engineering and sales teams.
• Manage construction activities related to the development of multiple simultaneous network infrastructure projects.
• Provide financial management of projects from initial proposal/bid through receipt of the final product or service.
• Manage project schedules and finances while interfacing with vendors through calls and meetings.
• Demonstrate attention to detail, a sense of urgency, wireless network (cell site) construction experience, and technical aptitude with computer-based tools.

Must-Have Skills

• General knowledge and experience with the design and installation of in-building network architectures.
• General work area hazard identification and prevention.
• Knowledge and experience with CATV provider termination points (e.g., terminals and pedestals).
• Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting coaxial and Cat6a Ethernet cabling.
• Must possess a vehicle capable of transporting tools and equipment.
• Hands-on experience working from step, extension, and folding ladders.
• Hands-on experience drilling in multi-dwelling and commercial buildings.
• Frontline experience working directly with customers and clients.

Desired Skills

• Knowledge and experience with Google Workspace and other computer and mobile applications.
• Four-year college degree or equivalent field experience.
• Experience working on flat and/or pitched rooftops of multi-dwelling or commercial buildings.
