Food & Nutrition Hospitality Associate

Major Responsibilities Accurately prepares, expedites, validates and delivers patient meals, nourishments, and floor stock that meet patient and customer expectations, department standards, and regulatory requirements. Assists patient with menu selection/ordering and communicates special meal requests or preferences to the diet office as needed. Delivers and retrieves meal trays within the designated time frame, verifies accuracy at point of service, checks parameters for patient verification, assists patients with opening containers, adjusting tray stands, and removing lids, and collects patient meal trays. Communicates patient needs to nursing staff and informs kitchen of wrong or missing items. Completes daily café and/or trayline activities as outlined in task sheets, including wiping tables, restocking service stations, cleaning and maintaining assigned areas, and dishroom-related duties. Responds promptly to telephone pages, maintaining patient confidentiality during all phone communications. Distributes patient menus according to individual diet needs. Performs cash‑related activities, including cash collection, cash reconciliation, and accurate transaction entry. Follows standardized recipes, production standards, and food safety processes as applicable. Patient and Customer Satisfaction Demonstrates a commitment to meeting patient and customer expectations. Provides prompt follow‑up to improve service and consistently displays a “can‑do” attitude. Partners with hospital associates to meet expectations for service and conducts weekly rounds to assess overall satisfaction. Communications Collaborates with hospital departments and fellow associates to fulfill patient and customer service goals. Delivers accurate and clear verbal and written communications. Shows sound decision‑making and takes responsibility for decisions. Communicates pertinent patient and operational information to appropriate resources for follow‑up. Respects confidentiality of patient information and maintains HIPAA standards during all communications. Safety and Sanitation Practices safety and sanitation techniques that meet department standards and regulatory requirements. Utilizes chemicals according to department and manufacturer guidelines. Executes “clean‑as‑you‑go” procedures during daily tasks. Uses correct body mechanics, appropriate safety techniques, and lifts up to 35lb when required; employs patient‑handling equipment when needed. Adheres to safety equipment usage and proper lifting protocols for patient handling. Department Standards Observes hospital and department guidelines regarding dress and name badge display. Attends scheduled department meetings, in‑services, and other required gatherings. Provides a high‑quality dining experience meeting nutritional and service expectations for temperature, timeliness, and food quality. Utilizes performance‑improvement processes to identify, assess, and evaluate areas for improvement. Performs additional duties as assigned based on daily departmental needs. Education & Experience Required 6months to 1year of hospitality or customer service experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Ability to accurately count and perform basic mathematical functions. Effective communication skills with diverse audiences. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Must walk and stand for long periods; approximately 100% of time on feet. Ready for moderate physical effort, lifting up to 35lb, and pushing up to 45lb of force. Able to rotate positions throughout the department and perform frequent bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and kneeling. Exposed to hazardous chemicals, sharp objects, heat, steam, refrigeration, and freezer temperatures. Flexible on hours, including evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
