Instrumentation and Control Engineer - Fuel Recycling

Thanks for your interest in Oklo! We are searching for an Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join our fuel recycling engineering team. Position DescriptionThe person in this role is responsible for designing, implementing, troubleshooting, scaling, and monitoring various instrumentation control systems for Oklo’s fuel recycling facility. It will include collaboration with cross-functional teams including those with a focus on facility design, unit process equipment design, and licensing.Specific responsibilities may include:Integrating design work across multi-disciplinary teams including process, controls, equipment and facilityDefining system standards frameworks, design patterns for controls, and PLC/SCADA implementation across multiple systemsDeveloping electronic process sensor systems, digital controllers, and network topologyPreparing specifications for procurement of instrumentation and controls equipment as well as engineering calculationsDeveloping intuitive dashboards, human-machine interfaces, and operator workflows what make complex facility systems easy to monitor and controlConducting system testing, simulation, and commissioning to validate architecture, functionally, and data accuracyDeveloping systems that meet facility and regulatory requirements and generating technical documentation to be included in regulatory filingsMinimum Qualifications:Degree in electrical engineering or related field7+ years of experience in instrumentation and controls or similar fieldExperience with nuclear fuel cycle and/or high-temperature/corrosion/hazard facilities and operationsBonus Qualifications: Experience leading or being a subject matter expert in process hazard analysis studiesExperience deploying or working on pilot plants through industrial facilities – both green- and brownfieldCompetenciesWe are looking for an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer who isPassionate about clean energy Motivated by building, and getting technology deployedEnergized by tackling and overcoming challengesPassionate about making advanced fission a realityWilling and able to learn quicklyWilling to think differently and do things in new ways Comfortable in a fast-paced, highly iterative startup environmentExcited to think creatively, critically, and reflectively about the problems they are solving while not leaning only on what has been done before Willing to propose novel and creative solutions to technical problemsAble to communicate technical content and results verballyAn excellent writer who can write in a modern active voice, so make your cover letter compelling and write it well!Who you are:A startup person: You aren't driven by titles or hierarchy, and prefer efficiency to excess process. For the first two weeks of onboarding, employees are required to be in person at headquarters in Santa Clara, CA.About Oklo compensation:Salary: $120,000-$180,000Oklo offers flexible time off, equity, competitive pay, 401k, health insurance, FSA, flexible work hours, and other benefits.This position may involve access to information subject to U.S. export control laws.
